The countdown has begun for the launch of Intel’s 4th generation Haswell processors. We have reported plenty of details about the upcoming micro-processors including complete reviews of unlocked Core i5-4670K and Core i7-4770K. Intel’s 4th generation processors will also make their way into Laptops, Ultrabooks and most probably high-end tablets. Specifications of ASUS VivoBook S551 have been leaked, equipped with Core i7-4500U processor and NVIDIA GT 740M graphics.
ASUS VivoBook S551
ASUS VivoBook S551 is powered by Intel’s 4th generation Core i7-4500U processor which is part of the company’s Ultra-low voltage series comprising of 2 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz and Intel HD 4400 iGPU. VivoBook S551 also features NVIDIA’s latest GT 740M GPU based on GK107 chip with 384 CUDA cores, 2 GB DDR3 VRAM and 128-bit interface. It is also possible that some GT 740M GPUs are based on the newer GK208 silicon which features the same amount of CUDA cores but higher clock speeds and the introduction of GPU Boost.
Rest of the specifications include a 15.6″ Touch LCD Panel with 1366 * 768 resolution, 8 GB DDR3 memory, 1 TB HDD with a 24 GB SSD Cache, Dual Layer DVD-RW, HD Webcam, WiFi & Bluetooth, USB 3.0 and Windows 8 64 bit operating system. ASUS exclusive features in the Ultrabook include ASUS Sonic Master Technology, Super Hybrid Engine 2 and Instant-On. The downside is the resolution of VivoBook S551 since manufacturers are moving towards UltraHD resolutions, Samsung and HP both are introducing 3800 * 1200 res panels with their Ultrabooks.
ASUS Vivobook S551 will be priced around $1000 which is good considering its specifications but its not the thinnest Ultrabook around due to the addition of DVD-RW and the large 15.6″ LCD Panel.
