Micron Offers $1.5 billion to take over Elpida, Apparently

Elpida Memory last month filed for bankruptcy and now reportedly plans to release its control over the company to another management through an open bid. Digitimes sources are saying Micron Technology has offered US$1.5 billion to take over Elpida. Apart from Micron, Toshiba and GlobalFoundaries are also likely to bid but seems like Micron was the first one to make an offer.

First round of bidding will start later in March and the second one in April while the decisions will be made in May.
