MSI is one of the most acknowledged brands when it comes to motherboards. Today, we’ll be having a brief look at their 970A-G46 socket AM3+ motherboard. First part of the name, 970A, suggests that this motherboard is made around AMD’s 970A chipset and second part, G46, suggest that it’s a mainstream product. MSI uses G4x and GD5x series for budget/mainstream, GD6x for performance and GD8x for high-end motherboards. AMD 970 chipset is a mainstream chipset itself. MSI coupled it with SB950 southbridge in this motherboard. AMD SB950 provides I/O support to the motherboard.
