The performance of a keyboard cannot be measured by any tools. It completely depends on personal preferences and can vary from person to person. In order to test the Performance of this keyboard, I have simply used it for over a month with average daily usage of 10-12 hours. My usage includes typing, web browsing and gaming. The games I played are mostly First Person Shooter including Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2.
In battlefield 3, the 2mm actuation distance made a difference and there was a marked improvement in my reaction time. Moreover, after long gaming sessions there was no hand fatigue at all, thanks to the soft keys.
Apart from the gaming experience, the typical experience is also incredible. Using mechanical keyboards for typing is one thing that you cannot understand before buying a mechanical keyboard. The audible clicks come in real handy at this stage and facilitate in typing by creating a natural rhythm. Moreover, the slightly curved surface provides a much comfortable place for the wrists to.
One thing to note is the noise it produces. If you prefer a quite environment and have previously used a scissor cut keyboard commonly found on laptops, you will have a hard time bearing the noises mechanical keys produce when pressed. Even though the audible clicks make sure you know when you have pressed the key, but the sound can be heard 5 meters away and It sounds like a drill machine at night!
Personally I did not find this a big-issue, but I will advise you to test out the BlackWidow before you purchase. Make sure that you can deal with the noise before buying it.
Also, the keyboard is heavy. It weighs around two kilograms, and that means it is even heavier than most modern laptop computers! On the plus, this shows the quality of stuff Razer have used to make this keyboard.
Along with rubber feet at the bottom and around 2KG’s of weight, these is no way the keyboard can move about, it sticks to the table as if glued to it, and makes it even more comfortable to use.
Even though this is pretty well built and most of the people who own this keyboard absolutely love this, but a small number of customers have reported the ALT and SPACEBAR keys to get stuck or become very hard. We didn’t have any such issue with our keyboard. Razer also provides a one year warranty for any such malfunctioning.
