Apple has drasitcally changed the way we interact with iOS starting from iPhone X and iOS 11 and obviously these changes will trickle down to its other iOS based devices as well. According to Bloomberg, the 2018 iPad will get the same treatment as iPhone. The home button will be removed and FaceID will be introduced.
With the removal of home button, Apple will obviously be making the bezels thinner however we shouldn’t expect them to be as thin as iPhone X. And there won’t be a notch as well because the 2018 iPad is expected to use LCD displays panels instead of OLEDs. And with LCDs can’t accommodate cutouts like the notch on iPhone X. The exclusion of OLEDs is mainly being attributed to supply issues as none of Apple’s display suppliers currently have to muscle to cater both iPhone X and iPad displays needs. Despite the declining tablet market, Apple saw a 14% increase in iPad revenue this quarter mainly thanks to the 10.5-inch model.
Apple is reportedly also working a new and improved version of the Pencil will be launched with the new iPad in fall 2018.
