Google will be releasing the final and public version of Android 7.0 Nougat sometime in August, according to the Evan Blass (evleaks). The fifth and final Developer Preview of Nougat was released in July which gives an idea that Google has now completed the development and the public version of the OS will be closely similar to the Developer Preview.
The major part of the story is that Nexus 5, from 2013, will not be getting the official update to Android 7.0 Nougat. It is not surprising because has specified that devices will get latest releases up to 2 years and Nexus 5 is about 3 years old now. However, if we look at hardware specifications, Nexus 5 with its Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM is quite capable of running the latest version of Android. And we will also see a lot of Nougat based ROMs for Nexus 5 so the users won’t be missing much.
Android 7.0 releases next month, with the 8/5 security patch. Sorry Nexus 5 owners, no Nougat for you ?
