Apple announces the colorful iPhone 5C; plastic design, 4-inch display for $99

Apple has announced the iPhone 5C. It’ll be replacing the iPhone 5 and boasts almost same internal components as the iPhone 5:

  • 4 inch Retina Display
  • Full sRGB standard
  • A6 chipset
  • 8MP camera
  • iOS 7

It looks exactly the same as we’ve been seeing in the rumors for over a month now. It’ll be sold for $99 for 16GB and $199 for 32GB on a two year contract. Apple will also be selling soft-feel silicon-made cases for the new phone. Each case will fetch $29 and will be available in a variety of colours, like the phone itself. The phone is made from hard-coated poly-carbonate with a metallic skeleton. According to Apple, you wont be able to see any joints or part lines because it is made from a single piece of plastic.

The front camera is still the 8 mega-pixel but the front has been improved with FaceTime HD for superior video calling experience. Apple also boasts that the iPhone 5C will support more LTE bands than any other smartphone in the world which points towards the availability in China. Apple hasnt announced the shipping date of iPhone 5C (Update: Its shipping on September 20th) but whenever it ships; it’ll be running the new iOS 7.
