ASUS and Gigabyte also failed to achieve their sales target in 2012, this may be due to the reason the Intel retained its LGA1155 socket for Ivy Bridge processors resulting in a low demand for 7-series chipset motherboards. The sale of motherboards are expected to rise in 2013 with the launch of a brand new socket LGA1150 by Intel for its Haswell processors in the second quarter of 2013.
