UEFI BIOS of the Fatal1ty H87 Performance is completely identical to the Fatal1ty-themed UEFI we saw in the Fatal1ty Z77 Professional last year. We’ve the same red and black theme with all the menus laid out on the top.
The most important bit of the BIOS is the OC Tweaker menu which contains all the overclocking and tweaking related options. And the most important part of this menu is the Non-Z OC option which lets you overclock your K-series unlocked processors on this H87 board even though it’s not supported by Intel. This option is present due to loop hole present in the H87 chipset which enables multiplier overclocking with unlocked processors. Intel has planned to fix this issue probably via BIOS update or Windows update but we are using the latest version of the public BIOS and this ‘issue’ isn’t fixed yet.
The Non-Z OC lets you select predefined CPU frequency values ranging from 4.0 GHz to 4.8 GHz. All you need to do is select your desired speed and motherboard will do the rest. Apart from this, you can also manually overclock the CPU by selecting CPU ratio but then you’ll have to adjust all the other variables as well.
Other notable features of the UEFI include Internet BIOS flash which lets you update the firmware over internet directly from the BIOS. It also has individual fan controls allowing you to set different fan speeds for different temperatures.
