ASRock is an emerging motherboard manufacturer. Recently they climbed to the 3rd position in the ranking of world’s largest motherboard manufacturers. Their feature-filled products and reasonable prices are two of the main factors behind their huge success.
ASRock, like other manufacturers, launched their Intel Z77 based motherboard in April. At launch, their flagship motherboard was Fatal1ty Z77 Professional but it wasn’t really a motherboard that you can call ‘flagship’ by the standards set by ASUS, GIGABYTE and other companies. Priced at around US $230, it’s more like a mid-high end motherboard.
A couple of days ago, ASRock launched Z77 Extreme9. It’s based on Intel’s latest Z77 chipset and by looking at its price and features one can really call it a flagship or ultimate motherboard. Expected to retail around US $400, the ASRock Z77 Extreme9 comes with all the latest features and bling that one would expect from a board with such a hefty price tag.
To begin with, it comes with 4-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossfireX support along with WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 module. ‘Dehumidifier’ is another interesting feature ASRock introduced with this motherboard. When this feature is enabled, motherboard will power up the system after a specified time to get rid of moisture (watch this video for more details on this feature).
Today, we’ll have a detailed look at this flagship motherboard from ASRock. Let’s have a go at the specifications before we jump further into the review.
