ASUS has prepared a custom Radeon HD 7850 graphics card. They are calling it HD 7850 DirectCu II Dragon Edition (DRAGON HD7850-DC2O-2GD5). As the name suggests, it uses ASUS in-house made renowned DirectCu II cooler. It a dual slot cooler with two 80mm fans cooling down a large array of aluminium fins. As far as clocks are concerned, HD 7850 Dragon Edition sits between the reference HD 7850 (core:870 Mhz, memory:4.84 GHz) and ASUS’s HD 7850 DirectCu II TOP edition (core:975 MHz, memory:5.00 GHz). It has core clock of 910 MHz and memory is clocked at 5.00 GHz.
For power delivery, ASUS HD 7850 Dragon Edition comes with 6+3 phase Digi+ VRM and two 6-pin PCIe connectors. What differs the Dragon Edition from other DirectCu II cards, physically, is the back plate. The Dragon Edition comes with a metallic back plate which has a wicked dragon logo on it. This card is currently available in China for US $361 and there is no information about its worldwide availability. There is a good chance that ASUS will not release this card worldwide and it’ll stay limited to China.
