Lets kick off with some more products from ASUS but this time everything is related to computer hardware. Yesterday, thanks to Afaq our Editor-in-Chief, we discovered that ROG GTX 770 Poseidon graphics card was plugged in to ROG Maximus VI Formula motherboard though the company saved the announcement for today but you heard about it first from us. Today, ASUS has officially lifted the curtain and officially revealed the ROG Maximus VI Formula motherboard.
ROG Maximus VI Formula with CrossChill Cooling
Before we get to the specifications lets talk about how ROG Maximus VI Formula is different from other motherboards. Sabertooth motherboards are known for their TUF armor plate for protecting and cooling internal motherboard components, the company has embedded a similar technology in Maximus VI Formula as well. Keeping the Hybrid (Air + Water) cooling solution in the Formula motherboard, ASUS also introduced the CrossChill cooling with a stylish ROG Armor cover and SECC (Steel, Electro-galvanized, Cold-Rolled, Coil) backplate with thermal pads for added strength and cooling. The integrated ‘Pin-Finned’ heatsink design improves heat dissipation with an increased surface area. Two G 1/4″ threaded-sockets support all standard liquid cooling loops, extensive testing reveals that liquid-cooled Maximus VI Formula operates at 23 degrees Celsius lower temperatures than Air cooling.
ASUS has not comprised on overclocking and audio with Maximus VI Formula. The motherboard features Extreme Engine Digi+ III power design, 60A BlackWing Chokes, 90% Efficiency NexFET MOFSETs and 10K Black Metallic capacitors. An additional mPCIe Combo II provides WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 along with a M.2 interface for ultra-compact NGFF (Next Gen Form Factor) SSDs.
ROG Maximus VI Formula is equipped with SupremeFX on-board audio featuring 120dB SNR headphone output with a dedicated 600ohm headphone amplifier. It also comes with an OpAmp and EMI shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference. ASUS has put a lot of efforts in designing the Maximus VI Formula motherboard but is it enough to compete against ASRock’s Z87 OC Formula with water-proof technology through Conformal coating?
