Now a days, motherboard manufacturers are trying very hard to differentiate their products in a market which is literally flooded with tens of models from each manufacturer. In order to differentiate, ASUS listened to their user base and came up with a motherboard with white theme. The resulting TUF series Sabertooth Z97 Mark S is a limited edition motherboard with white camouflage theme. ASUS showed a prototype of this motherboard no Computex 2014 but back then it was called Sabranco Z97.
The new Sabertooth Z97 Mark S is actually the Z97 Mark 1 under the hood however ASUS did not do a simple paint job but they have handled every last bit of detail impeccably. Apart from the color, the Z97 Mark S is exactly like the Z97 Mark 1. ASUS has kept the same TUF Thermal Armour and the TUF Fortifier backplate. The real changes are in the color of the motherboard. The PCB is now fully white whereas the Thermal Armour and the backplate has white came theme going on with some light grey shades. On a swift look, it seems completely white. The only visible, PCH, heatsink also has same theme going on. The memory slots and PCI expansion slots are in dark grey however their protective covers are full white. The only parts ASUS forgot or intentionally did not touch are the SATA ports, power connectors and other on-board connectors, they are still in green and brown camo theme. It would have been better if these were white as well but still they don’t look that bad our out of place.
ASUS will be producing the Z97 Mark S in limited quantities and each motherboard will come with its own four digit serial number. They have not announced exactly how limited its production will be but we will get that information in coming days. Whatever the case may be, this motherboard will be a huge success among case modders and enthusiasts who have been painting their motherboard in white to do something different. And finally, those white graphics cards that have always felt out of place will feel right at home with the new Z97 Mark S motherboard. It is expected to retail for a little higher than the Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 which goes for around $260.
