Colorful is known for manufacturing some unique graphics card especially its Kudan series. Unfortunately, they are not easy to get your hands on because the availability is quite scarce out of China. The company has launched yet another beast, the flagship GeForce GTX 980 iGame graphics card with a massive triple slot cooler, a whopping 14 phase VRM and server grade power circuitry. Colorful makes GPUs for enthusiast who like to play with them and bring out their max potential.

Colorful GeForce GTX 980 iGame features NVIDIA’s GM204-400 GPU equipped with 2048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GPU has 4 GB GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit memory interface. It comes with a dual-BIOS, one has clock speeds similar to the reference model – 1127 MHz core, 1216 MHz boost and 7.00 GHz memory. Users can switch the BIOS with the help of a button at the back I/O which overclocks the GPU to 1178 MHz on core, 1279 MHz boost and 7.01 GHz for memory. It might struck you as not one of the fastest factory overclocked card but Colorful leaves plenty of room for users to play with.

The highly customized PCB of GeForce GTX 980 iGame features pure silver traces, a 14-phase VRM, tantalum capacitors, high-end DPAK MOSFETs and high-current chokes capable of handling a lot of volts. This power circuitry coupled with the beast cooler can easily beat most of the AIB offerings on air and give a very tough time on LN2 as well. If tweaked right, Colorful’s GTX 980 iGame can reach 1800 MHz on air considering the setup is good for cooling as well.

Coming on to the massive cooler, Colorful did not compromise on anything. GTX 980 iGame features a huge heatsink shroud with three 100 mm fans on top of an aluminum fin stack and a nice big heatsink for VRMs underneath. The cooler takes up to three slots so 4-way SLI is highly unlikely unless you use PCIe extenders. The back I/O consists of the standard display outputs – three DisplayPorts, one HDMI and one DVI port. Colorful has also included a nice black blackplate to prevent bending and cooling the back of the PCB.
