Daraz recently held Mobile Week on their e-commerce store where they offered lots of phones with major discounts for a full week. According to a statement issued by the company, 5,000 phones were sold in the first hour of the Mobile Week. The sale went up on June 20, 2016 and ended after one week on June 26, 2016.
Daraz has also shared an infographic with some facts and figures about the first of its kind Mobile Week in Pakistan. The online store saw 21 times the sale of phones compared to a normal day and about 2 million users visited the website during whole week, 67% of which were from mobile devices. Another major number is Rs 14.3 million – that’s the amount of discounts that were offered.
“At midnight, as we celebrated leading to the countdown, we knew that this would be a sale as big as Black Friday and we were very excited to bring another revolutionary sale event to our customers. The hype for Mobile Week had been building much before the sale began, and once the deals were revealed the vibe went from electric to ecstatic,” said Saman Javed, Head of Communications Daraz.pk.
The Mobile Week was obviously busy for Daraz’s customer service and logistics department as well. They treated 110 times more calls and 150 times more emails in this week. According to Daraz, 62% of the total orders were delivered within 2 days. Company’s experience from massive Black Friday might have helped in dealing with such large amount of orders as there were lots of delayed deliveries back then.
Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S7 with Gear VR was one of the hotest deals (which was completely sold out in the first one hour) along with the Android One General Mobile 4G which Daraz exclusively launched in Pakistan during the Mobile Week.
Daraz thanks their customers for the massive sales and vows to come back with even better deals next time.
