Samsung has released over 10 tablets in 2014, and we’re only half way through the year. The company seems to be throwing stuff at the wall, hoping something might stick. It’s a questionable tactic that dilutes the brand quality. However what it also does it showcase the best of what Samsung has to offer. For example the latest tablets from the Korean giant, the Galaxy Tab S series, is released solely to showcase the new display. A quad HD screen with Super AMOLED tech is certainly a sight to behold. But how good is this display? Does it merit a new tablet lineup? According to testing by DisplayMate, this certainly seems to be the case.
Based on our extensive Lab tests and measurements, the Galaxy Tab S is the Best Performing Tablet Display that we have ever tested, not surprisingly with performance that is almost identical to the OLED Galaxy S5 Smartphone that we recently tested and found to be the Best Performing Smartphone Display. The Galaxy Tab S establishes new records for best Tablet display performance in: Highest Color Accuracy, Infinite Contrast Ratio, Lowest Screen Reflectance, and smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle.
There is no doubt that this is a glowing display review of the Galaxy Tab S by DisplayMate. This is the same testing facility that praised the display of the Galaxy S5, calling it one of the best ever. Samsung may have had its critics over the years regarding the use of over saturated colours on its OLED displays, but it’s obvious that the company has learned. With each passing year the displays on Samsung phones have gotten more and more impressive. There will always be the purists who prefer the more natural colour tone of an IPS panel, but the fact is that a normal consumer couldn’t care less. For him the infinite contrast and near 180 degree viewing angles are enough.
