Ellen DeGeneres makes Twitter history through a Samsung sponsored Oscars selfie

Did you watch the Oscars yesterday? It is after all the biggest night in television, with over a million people watching it all over the globe. The Oscars celebrates the best of the best that movies have to offer. And there was a special theme last night that we could not help but ignore. It was a heavy presence of Samsung through out the event. There were lots of advertisements for Samsung phones and other products. There was even a Samsung sponsored selfie by the host Ellen DeGeneres.

Through out the event Ellen was seen totting a Galaxy Note 3, taking pictures and posting them on her Twitter account. One of these pictures however has ended up making history. Yes, it is a selfie. But it’s not your usual selfie. It has Ellen along with Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper and Meryl Streep. The Tweet, only hours it was posted, ended up being retweeted over a million times. As of right now it has over 2.5 million retweets.

Samsung was also present at Green Room at the Oscars this year. The company created a massive video wall composed of 86 televisions, smartphones, and tablets showing footage from the movies nominated.
