EVGA Shows off X79 Classified E779 Motherboard

EVGA being an exclusive partner of NVIDIA and a sponsor of GeForce LAN 6, showed their top-end EVGA X79 Classified motherboard for upcoming Intel Sandy Bridge-E processors at the LAN event. EVGA was late to market both for P67 and Z68 motherboards, X79 launch is being considered as a fresh start for their motherboard team. They will be launching 3 motherboards for socket LGA 2011 processors:

  • EVGA x79 SLI – E775
  • EVGA X79 FTW – E777
  • EVGA X79 Classified – E779

Top end EVGA X79 Classified (E779) was the motherboard shown at NVIDIA’s GeForce LAN 6 event. EVGA ran a live demo of the board with a Sandy Bridge-E processor and Intel RTS2011LC CPU Water Cooler. It features traditional EVGA red and black theme. Much like any other X79 based motherboard it has an LGA 2011 socket in the center with a total of four DDR3 DIMM slots (two on both sides) for quad channel memory configuration. Expansion slots include five PCI Express 3.0 ready x16 slots and one PCI Express x1 slot. Storage connectivity options include two SATA III 6GB/s ports, four SATA II 3GB/s ports and a front panel USB 3.0 header. Other on-board features include power and reset switch along with a debug LED.

Back I/O panel has a total of eight USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. Other options include Bluetooth, EVBot connector, 8 channel HD analog audio connectors, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two eSATA ports and a CMOS reset switch.
