NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 specifications and benchmarks leaked

NVIDIA’s GAME24 event is just 8 days away and the leaks are getting stronger. Companies are lining up the teasers while some enthusiasts are preparing major leaks before the actual launch. Today, a user on a Chinese site Baidu leaked every bit of detail regarding GeForce GTX 970. We have confirmed specifications thanks to the GPU-Z screenshot, couple of benchmarks and pictures of a custom variant by Galaxy Tech. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 is shaping up to be a nice GPU if it retails for the expected price of $399. It is faster than GTX 780 and marginally slower than the flagship GTX 780 Ti. The original link has been taken down but VideoCardz was able to save the images.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 has identical PCB design to GTX 760. The compact PCB will allow AIB partners to introduce compact ITX versions of the GPU. In terms of specifications, GTX 970 has slightly less CUDA cores compared to GTX 780. Although GTX 770 had the same amount of CUDA cores as GTX 680 but both GPUs were based on Kepler. Maxwell cores will be faster compared to Kepler so GTX 970’s 1664 cores should outperform GTX 780’s 2304 cores. Second most noticeable feature is the reduction of TDP to just 150 W which is a 70 W improvement over GTX 770 and a 100 W improvement over GTX 780.

NVIDA GeForce GTX 970 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme Score

GeForce GTX 970 paired with Core i3 4130 had a combined score of 3963 which is slightly lower than GTX 780’s average overall score of 4244. This can be due to the fact that GTX 970 was paired with an entry level processor which affected the overall score and since the user did not show the Graphics scores so we cannot exactly determine the performance. But in an earlier leak, GTX 970 did outperform GTX 780 by roughly 20% so it will definitely be faster than its counter part.
