Computex 2014: GIGABYTE is extending its Aorus Gaming laptop line with two new 13.3″ and 13.9″ notebooks. The Aorus X3 and X3 Plus feature an identical design to X7 but with upgraded specs. The only difference between Aorus X3 and X3 Plus is the display as the latter comes with a 13.9″ QHD+ LCD with an option of 3200 x 1800 resolution while the former features a 1440p display in a 13.3″ size. Both models are equipped with NVIDIA’s latest GeForce GTX 870M graphics with 6 GB GDDR5 memory.
GIGABYTE Aorus X3 Features
The two most noticeable additions to the new Aorus X3 gaming laptops are GTX 870M and NGFF form factor M.2 SATA dual SSDs. The slim design of the laptop packs very powerful hardware capable of handling games even at 4K resolution with the help of DisplayPort output.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M
The GeForce GTX 870M features 1344 CUDA cores clocked at 941 MHz + Boost. The GPU packs 6 GB of GDDR5 memory spread across a 192-bit memory interface. The latest graphics by NVIDIA also support Battery Boost, NVIDIA Optimus, Shadowplay, GameStream and DirectX 11.2 API. GeForce GTX 870M performs 37% faster compared to GTX 770M resulting in a score of P7401 in 3DMark 11 performance benchmark. The GPU is also capable of outputting 4K resolution through the included DisplayPort.
NGFF M.2 SATA Dual SSD
GIGABYTE has used the best when it comes to storage as the company opted for NGFF M.2 SATA SSDs running in RAID 0. The M.2 SATA form factor minimizes the access time while RAID 0 helps achieve a speed of 1000 MB/s. This turns Aorus X3 in to a blazing fast machine with minimum load times and Windows startup.
Aorus X3 Plus QHD+ Display
The 13.9-inch QHD+ LCD comes with a display resolution of 3200 x 1800 providing breathtaking picture quality and detail. GIGABYTE has used IGZO-TFT panels for the displays which minimizes power consumption yet delivers high performance. The small 13.9″ LCD packs 5.76 million pixels with the support of wide viewing angle. The Aorus X3’s LCD offers consistent color and contrast from any angle within 170 degrees.
Killer LAN, Macro Keys & Fan Control
Killer rules when it comes to producing gaming optimized Ethernet technology. GIGABYTE Aorus X3 is equipped with the best of the best ensuring 100% packet transmission even under busy network traffic and very low latencies. The macro keys on Aorus X3 helps users set their own gaming profiles for different games with just one key press. The scissor-switch key structure ensures a fast switch between the profiles during gameplay. Also included in the system utilities is the fan control of the two fans which cool the GPU and CPU. Users can control the fan speed according to the need.
Other features include a back-lit keyboard, 802.11 ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4th generation Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor.
