For the past few days, the hardware-related publications are fully occupied by the leaks related to NVIDIA’s upcoming Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 graphics cards. The green team is expected to launch the new products in a few hours from now but we already know complete specifications of both the upcoming cards. Furthermore, a complete review of the GTX 980 and GTX 970 has also leaked which we reported only a while ago. All the AIBs are preparing their cards. We’ve seen GTX 980 and GTX 970 variants from ZOTAC, ASUS, Gainward, and MSI. Now, a latest report has revealed a the official press shot of GIGABYTE’s GeForce GTX 980 as well.

This GIGABYTE GTX 980 is based on the reference models and reportedly comes with reference specifications. As we’ve previously reported, the GeForce GTX 980 comes equipped with GM204-400 GPU which has 5.2 billion transistors. It comes packing 2048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GTX 980 has a rather massive base clock of 1126 MHz and boost clock of 1216 MHz. It has 4GB of GDDR5 memory spread across a 256-bit wide memory interface. The memory is clocked at 1750 MHz. It has a TDP of 175W only which is a big step forward from Kepler based graphics card. It comes with two 6-pin PCIe power connectors.

In terms of cooling, NVIDIA’s has sticked to their NVTTM cooler which comes with last generation’s high-end cards like GTX 780 series and GTX Titan. However, some minor adjustments has been made to it. The metallic shroud has been extended a bit to cover the otherwise exposed DVI ports. Furthermore, the GTX 980 also comes with a black metallic backplate.

The reference GeForce GTX 980 will be sold for around $549. GIGABYTE will also release custom models with WindForce cooling and G1 Gaming branding and those will reportedly cost extra.

Update: Pictures of the G1 Gaming version of GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 by GIGABYTE have also leaked. It comes with latest WindForce cooling solution. One of the main highlight of this graphics card is that it comes with even more display output options as compared to the reference card. In addition to three DisplayPorts, one HDMI and one DVI-D, it also comes with a DVI-I port as well.
