GIGABYTE Z87X-OC Review

PCMark 7:

PCMark 7 includes 7 PC tests for Windows 7, combining more than 25 individual workloads covering storage, computation, image and video manipulation, web browsing and gaming. Specifically designed to cover the full range of PC hardware from netbooks and tablets to notebooks and desktops, PCMark 7 offers complete PC performance testing for Windows 7 for home and business use. We ran the computation preset which tests system’s performance with several video and picture related tasks.

AIDA64:

AIDA64 implements a set of 64-bit benchmarks to measure how fast the computer performs various data processing tasks and mathematical calculations. Memory and cache benchmarks are available to analyze system RAM bandwidth and latency. Processor benchmarks utilize MMX, 3DNow! and SSE instructions, and scale up to 32 processor cores. For legacy processors all benchmarks are available in 32-bit version as well.

We ran its memory read/write test and CPU ZLib test. CPU ZLib benchmark measures combined CPU and memory subsystem performance through the public ZLib compression library. It uses only the basic x86 instructions, and it is HyperThreading, multi-processor (SMP) and multi-core (CMP) aware.

Cinebench R11.5:

CINEBENCH is a real-world cross platform test suite that evaluates your computer’s performance capabilities. CINEBENCH is based on MAXON’s award-winning animation software CINEMA 4D, which is used extensively by studios and production houses worldwide for 3D content creation. MAXON software has been used in blockbuster movies such as Spider-Man, Star Wars, The Chronicles of Narnia and many more. We ran both its CPU test and OpenGL test.

SuperPi:

Super PI is a computer program that calculates pi to a specified number of digits after the decimal point—up to a maximum of 32 million. Its more off a memory benchmark but it test the CPU too.

WinRAR:

WinRAR is a Windows data compression tool that focuses on the RAR and ZIP data compression formats for all Windows users. It has a built-in benchmark which tests the system for compression speed.

WPrime:

WPrime uses a recursive call of Newton’s method for estimating functions, with f(x)=x2-k, where k is the number we’re sqrting, until Sgn(f(x)/f'(x)) does not equal that of the previous iteration, starting with an estimation of k/2. It then uses an iterative calling of the estimation method a set amount of times to increase the accuracy of the results. It then confirms that n(k)2=k to ensure the calculation was correct. It repeats this for all numbers from 1 to the requested maximum. We ran the 1024M preset to test the system performance.

x264 HD Benchmark:

x264 HD Benchmark is a reproducible measure of fast your machine can encode a short HD-quality video clip into a high quality x264 video file. It makes use of multi-core processors very efficiently. It runs four iterations of the benchmark over two passes.
