GIGABYTE Z87X-SLI; a cheap motherboard for committed gamers

GIGABYTE-Z87X-SLI

GIGABYTE has just announced the Z87X-SLI; a new motherboard with LGA1150 socket for the Haswell processors. Now what’s different about this motherboard is that its targeted towards committed gamers who make PCs solely to play games and not for overclocking or as multimedia stations. The Z87X-SLI comes with all the basic necessities with the addition of SLI support for true gamers. Stripping up all the extras make this motherboard more affordable and attractive for gamers.

GIGABYTE has dropped all the extra controllers; the storage and connectivity options are coming from Z87 PCH solely. The Z87X-SLI has six SATA III ports, six USB 3.0 ports along with HDMI, DVI and VGA for display output. To keep the cost down, GIGABYTE has opted to Realtek ALC892 audio codec and Realtek gigabit Ethernet LAN. In terms of expansion slots, it comes with two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (one is wired for x8), three PCIe x1 slots and two legacy PCI slots. In case of SLI, both the PCIe slots will shift to x8/x8 mode.

The GIGABYTE Z87X-SLI will soon hit the retail stores for £95 (inc VAT) or $130 in US. Even at that price, it seems like a difficult product to sale since there are quite a lot of motherboards in this range which are as capable as this one.
