HTC is probably the only top-tier smartphone manufacturer which had been going through financial struggle in recent quarters but that streak has now ended. They have just posted unaudited financial results for Q2 2014 and they are back to making money instead of losing. Since Q3 2013, they haven’t really made any money but lost quite a lot of it. Earlier this year, it was predicted that HTC will finally turn back to profit in Q2 and that’s exactly what has happened.
They have posted a profit of NT$2.26 billion ($75 million) over overall revenue of NT$65 billion ($2.17 billion). Both the numbers are quite small considering the smartphone industry is at its peak these days but its good to see HTC finally making some money. The profit can be accredited to their new HTC One M8 smartphone along with some mid-range smartphones like the One E8 and the One Mini 2. Apart from that, the company also took some cost cutting measures earlier this year.
