Huawei Ascend W2 specs revealed ahead of launch

Huawei might not be the most well known brand in smartphones but the Chinese manufacturer has been gaining traction over the past 12 months or so. After having toyed with Android rather successfully, Huawei is giving Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 a go. Huawei was named as one of the launch partners for Windows Phone 8 back in October 2012. It has taken them quite a while but finally  we have the specs of their first Windows Phone. It’s called the Ascend W2.

Huawei Ascend W2 doesn’t deviate too much from the Windows Phone chassis. On the front is a 4.3-inch screen with WVGA (480 x 800) resolution. There’s a dual core 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset, the same SoC that powers the lower end Lumia phones. The RAM too is limited to just 512MB. There is 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

The rest of the specs include an 8MP camera on the back, but none on the front. The phone is powered by a 1700mAh battery. Ascend W2 comes in a variety of colours such as red, blue and yellow. The phone is rather slim at just 9.9mm.

The phone hasn’t officially been announced yet so information on pricing and availability is not yet know. We will be updating this post if we get more information.
