Instagram has just allowed brands and profiles in Pakistan to promote their native posts. Prior to this, marketers were only able to promote the Facebook posts on Instagram. This method did not provide a meaningful way to grow your following on Instagram or promote your content.
A new Android app update was rolled out last night which enabled promoted Instagram posts for Pakistani users. After the update, our friends at GlamFeed magazine noticed a new ‘Promotions’ card in their notifications area which take you to a new screen. This screen is supposed to show your recent promotions activity but since this update is just rolling out, the screen did not show any data.
In addition to that, a ‘Promote’ button has started showing on each post. This button works similar to the ‘Boost’ button present on Facebook. Pressing this button, takes you to the campaign screen where you can set an ‘Action Button’ with a link, your audience, budget and duration of the ad. After you have set everything up, it asks you to enter a payment method. If you have linked your Facebook ad account with Instagram, it will automatically pick your default payment method. Finally, you ad will be be submitted for review.
We have not found this feature on our ChipLoco Instagram account yet. We believe, Instagram is probably rolling it out slowly. Nonetheless, it will open up a lot of new avenues for small businesses as well as large ones which will now be able to effectively market to the very lucrative Instagram user base.
Please share in the comments below, if you or any of your friends have gotten this feature.
