Intel will Launch New SSDs for Caching, to go with Ivy Bridge

Intel is replacing the 311 series (Larson Creek) with a range of new models in time for the launch of Ivy Bridge processors. These new models have been designed for the 7-series chipsets and are backward compatible to 6-series.

This series will be known as 313, it will be using the SLC NAND flash & the parts are now 25nm. Two capacities will be offered, 20 GB and 24 GB. There are no performance figures yet so we don’t know what the difference will be between the 20 GB and 24 GB model. These will be 2.5” and mSATA form factor and are only 7mm high as compared to 9mm of 311 series and the SATA interface is still at 3Gbps.

Intel’s MSRP of the 20 GB model is US $99 and 24 GB model US $119. These will be launched in April alongside Ivy Bridge and the 7-series chipset although they may arrive earlier in the channel as well as reported by VR-Zone
