Some iPhone 5s units have faulty batteries, Apple confirms

Ever since the launch of the new iPhone and the iOS 7, users have been reporting shortened battery life. Most of it has been blamed on the new iOS and possibly that’s the actual cause but for some iPhone 5s users, the issue is not related to software; its about hardware. Apple has acknowledged the issue that some iPhone 5s units have faulty batteries due to a manufacturing error.  This fault drains the battery faster than it normally should and in some cases it also takes a lot of time to charge.

“We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” said Teresa Brewer, an Apple spokeswoman. “We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”

According to NYTimes, a few thousand phones seem to be effected by this manufacturing error. However, it good to hear that Apple is replacing the phones with faulty batteries.
