MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning graphics card is still not officially launched but its been in the news ever since the first teaser on the company’s Facebook page. At Gamescon 2013, UK overclock “8 PACK” used two MSI GeForce GTX 780 in SLI to break the 3DMark FireStrike world record leaving behind Galaxy GeForce GTX 780 HOF and GeForce GTX TITAN.
Last week, HardwareZone accidentally leaked pictures of MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning graphics card. It will be the first GPU which will feature the in-house TriFrozr cooler with three fans and the Triple Force architecture. It will feature Triple Level Signals, TriFrozr Cooler and Pure Digital PWM control. The Triple Level Signals will inform the user about how much load is being put on the GPU using different color lighting. The Pure Digital PWM Control consists of DrMos 4 design and Military Class IV components. The GPU Reactor at the back of PCB provides more power for stability during high overclocks. The GK110 based GPU will feature 3GB GDDR5 memory but the clock speeds are not yet known.
Today, MSI has just posted an image on their Facebook page taken at Gamescon 2013. The UK overclocker, “8 PACK” managed to overclock two GeForce GTX 780 Lightning graphics cards to a massive 1563 MHz on core with GPU Boost 2.0 up to 1603 MHz while the memory was overclocked to 1702 MHz or 6.8 GHz effectively. This insane overclocked helped him achieve 21096 points in 3DMark FireStrike beating the previous world record of 20184 points. He also beat Galaxy GeForce GTX 780 Hall of Fame in SLI as well as GeForce GTX TITAN in SLI by approximately 1200 points.
The test bench consisted of an Intel Core i7-3930K processor overclocked to 5.5 GHz using MSI Big Bang X Power II motherboard, 16GB DDR3 Corsair memory, 120 GB Samsung 840 SSD and two MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning GPUs in SLI. The breakdown of the scores is listed below:
