Another motherboard giant showcased its upcoming Z87 flagship motherboard. As reported earlier, MSI will showcase its Gaming series products at CeBIT 2013, the company revealed a prototype of Z87A Gaming series motherboard. Although the motherboard has yet to receive the new red and black color scheme along with new features but the prototype gives us an idea of what kind of goodies it will pack.
The Z87A Gaming series motherboard features a 16 phase VRM for CPU, four DDR3 DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB of memory, three PCI-Ex 3.0 slots and four PCI-Ex x1 slots. Voltage measurement points and USB 3.0 internal connector are situated along side the 24-pin power connector and power to the CPU is provided by two 8-pin EPS connectors.
As for storage is concerned, the motherboard provides a total of eight SATA III 6GB/s ports, two of them are courtesy of a third-party controller. Other features include eight USB 3.0 ports (six on back panel and two through internal connector), Gigabit Ethernet, 8-channel HD audio, Dual HDMI and one Display Port for display. The PCB can be used for MSI’s mainstream Z87A-GD65 motherboard as well but the Gaming series model will have some exclusive features of its own.
