Wrapping up the Noctua NH-U14S review, I have to say that it’s nothing short of impressive. The engineers over at Noctua have achieved the top spot in the air cooling market with this new cooler and that too at a fraction of the size of the NH-D14 which was the king a couple of years ago. However, the cooling market is rapidly changing now. With CPU makers trying to decrease the heat output as much as possible and consumers moving towards smaller form factors, the desktop cooling component makers are seeing a constant decline in business. Apart from that, there isn’t much space for innovation in this industry; especially in air coolers. This is why closed loop liquid coolers have rapidly made their space in the market in last couple of years.
Anyway, there is still some market for air coolers. In fact, some people prefer these over the closed loop liquid coolers and if you are one of those people then the Noctua NH-U14S is the cooler you want. It performs very well without doing anything crazy in the size or noise output department. It even beats the more expensive Corsair H80i liquid cooler which is quite impressive in itself. That’s with stock fan on NH-U14S; you can further enhance its performance by slapping another fan or mounting some crazy high speed ones.
Priced at around $80, the NH-U14S definitely isn’t cheap but Noctua’s products have never been cheap. They always come at a price premium and that extra money ensures you of excellent performance, durability and quality. Lastly, it is backed by 6 years of warranty.
