NVIDIA is expected to debut their new Maxwell based GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 graphics cards in a couple of days and it’s what everyone is talking about for the past week or so. We’ve reported their performance numbers, specifications along with some clear pictures and PCB shots as well. Now, we’ve also got the pricing information of both the GTX 980 and GTX 970 thanks to 3DCenter.org.
The top-end GeForce GTX 980 will be released at a price of $599 whereas the GTX 970 will go for $399. There’s a good $200 difference between both of these cards which is quite odd however the previous generation GTX 780 and GTX 770 graphics cards were launched with an ever higher difference ($250). As seen in the leaked performance numbers, the GTX 980 is about as fast as GTX 780 Ti which is currently being sold for over $650. So it’ll make total sense considering that GTX 980 is faster and eats less power as well. On the other hand, the GTX 970 is a bit faster than GTX 780 which is currently being sold for around $430.
From what we’ve seen so far, both of these graphics cards have what it makes to capture the high-end market but we’ll have to wait for the official reviews and reaction of AMD until we make any final calls.
