OnePlus is all set to launch their new flagship smartphone but it is always hard to predict what this Chinese manufacturer will do next. Every year, they take a new path. However, for the previous two phones, their path has become somewhat predictable. In mid-2016, they launched the OnePlus 3 which was followed by a slightly improved OnePlus 3T by the end of the year. Earlier this year, they launched the OnePlus 5 which, even at its launch, seemed a bit outdated in terms of design for 2017 with its huge bezels. So it is now being followed by OnePlus 5T which follows the design trend of 2017 with its very slim bezels.
OnePlus 5T Design
From what we have seen in various leaks so far, overall design of the OnePlus 5T is similar to its predecessor apart from one major change i.e. the screen and bezels. There has not been any solid leak about the size of the phone but from the pictures, it looks similar to the 5 in terms of size. However, the 5.5-inch screen seems to have changed with a 6-inch optic AMOLED unit with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160×1080 resolution. It will obviously be covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
To accomodate the larger screen, the finger print sensor has been moved to the back and the top and bottom bezels are now smaller. They are still not as small as Galaxy S8 or iPhone X but they still give the phone a very modern look.
The back of the phone stays pretty much the same apart from the addition of finger print sensor in the center.
OnePlus 5T Specifications
While the 3T was a major improvement over 3 in terms of internal, that wont be the case for 5T. It will still be featuring the Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset with Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB or 8GB of RAM. There will be no memory card slot but the model with smaller RAM will come with 64GB of storage while the other will come with 128GB.
The only internal that’s being changed is the rear camera setup. As opposed to the dual 16MP setup in 5, the new phone will come with dual 20MP setup. The front camera will stay the same at 16MP.
There still isn’t any hint of wireless charging but there will be Dash Charge over USB Type-C. The battery capacity also got a slight bump to 3500mAh.
OnePlus 5T will be running Android 8.0 Oreo at launch.
OnePlus 5T release date and price
A leaked image shows that the OnePlus 5T will be launched on November 16 in a live event and the sales will start sometime after that. It also suggests that the phone will be an Amazon Exclusive. It is expected to retail around $499 for the 6GB/64GB model.
