Radeon R9 290X & R9 290 specs leaked via official slide

R9 290 specs

AMD announced their new Radeon R9 and R7 series graphics card in last month but they didn’t talk even a little about their specifications. All we’ve been hearing are rumors since then without any ‘official’ evidence. Last week, alleged final specifications of the R9 290X surfaced when it was listed for pre-order. Those have been confirmed now by an official marketing slide leaked by Harmitage Akihabara.

R9 290 specs

As we reported earlier, the R9 290X has 2,816 stream processors and up to 1000 MHz of core clock with 5.6 TFLOPS of compute performance. It has 4GB of GDDR5 memory spread across a very wide 512-bit memory interface and clocked at 5 GHz. In addition to this, specifications of a new card have also surfaced and its the R9 290 (without the “X”). If you’ve been following us regularly, we reported even before AMD’s official announcement that there might be another card in the new lineup which won’t be a re-brand of the old card; the R9 290 is that card. It is also based on the Hawaii GPU as the R9 290X but it has 2,560 stream processors as compared to 2,816 as compared to its bigger brother. Core clock is also lowered to 947 MHz. Apart from that, its completely identical to the R9 290X, even in terms of design and looks.

Both of these cards feature TrueAudio technology, DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3 and AMD’s Mentle API.
