Samsung is expected to launch their next Note series smartphone in less than a month which means that leaks are in full swing at the moment. Pretty much everything about the phone starting from the name, Galaxy Note7, to specifications and press shots have leaked.
The Galaxy Note7 will reportedly come with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display having 1440 x 2560 resolution. The display will obviously be covered by Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, the phone will come packing either the Snaprdragon 823 (Dual-core 2.3 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo) or Exynos 8893 (Quad-core 2.6 GHz + quad-core 1.6 GHz) depending on the region coupled with 6 GB of RAM.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy Note7 will feature a 12 megapixel primary shooter with 26mm F/1.7 glass. It will have all the latest imaging features that you can expect from a Samsung flagship like optical image stabilization, LED flash, phase detection auto focus, face/smile detection, Auto HDR and panorama. It will also be capable of shooting up to 4K video at 30 FPS and full HD at 60 FPS. On the front, there will be a 5 megapixel camera with 22mm wide angle lens for selfies and video calling.
Other salient features of the Galaxy Note7 include an iris scanner for unlocking the device and for Samsung Pay along with fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor. The smartphone will also have wireless charging along with some kind of quick wired charging. Obviously, there will be S-Pen and IP68 waterproofing as well.
It will be packing a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery and it will reportedly be available in 64, 128 and 256 GB versions along with microSD slot as well. There are some solid reports have some leaked pictures which reveal that Samsung might be ditching the microUSB port for USB Type-C. If that’s really the case, this will be first major smartphone from Samsung with USB Type-C.
In terms of software, Galaxy Note7 will be running the latest version of Android (6.0.1 Marshmallow). On top there will be a version of TouchWiz similar to what we saw on the Galaxy S7 lineup.
Some press shots of the phone have also leaked by the Evan Blass (whose record is very good). These picture show the design of Note7 to be similar to Note 4 but the materials are glass and metal like Galaxy S7. It has a curved display on both sides like the Galaxy S7 edge. The phone will be available in three colors – Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral.
