Telenor will be starting public trials of their 4G services in the first week of October, according to our sources inside the company. The 4G license was issued to the company early this month and they have already started issuing 4G sims to their employees for internal trials which will start early next month.
When public trial starts, selected corporate clients will be the first ones to get the 4G services, then it will roll out to postpaid clients with high usage and eventually it will be offered to prepaid clients who might know someone in Telenor. Furthermore, there will be no data limit in the public trials.
Telenor will be commercially rolling out their 4G services by the end of this year (November/December). Currently, Telenor only has 5 sites running 4G and only a few handful people inside the company are using it through dedicated 4G devices. Company plans to have about 1,500 4G sites up by the end of this year (Zong has about 1,000 4G sites).
