Plan9, Pakistan’s largest and only government funded tech incubator, just finalized the startups for their 8th intake. The 8th Launchpad Lahore event took place in Arfa Kareem Technology Center last week. 20 startups reached the grand finale where a panel of 15 specialists finalized a total for 9 startups for the 8th incubation cycle on Plan9.
Mr. Margaret Adamson, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr. Salman Shah, Ex-Finance Minister Pakistan and Dr. Umar Saif, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) were all present at the grand finale. The panel of judges also included some prominent personalities like Humayun Haroon, Co-Founder of Patari and Omar Ali Khan, Owner of Gloria Jeans.
The winners of the 8th incubation cycle are below. These startups will be incubated at Plan9 for the next six months. They will be given necessary mentorship, networking, international exposure, stipend and office space.
PakLaw recorder aims to digitize the available legal resources including case transcripts, legislation, journalistic documents, and other international law-related materials. These archives will then be available electronically to the masses.
This e-commerce startup will focus on providing items of daily households such as fruits, vegetables and dairy products to the community.
3. Taza Daily
Taza Daily will provide monthly subscriptions of daily usage products like grocery, fruits and vegetables. You can get a monhtly subscription and your products will be delivered to you fresh on daily basis.
Campusfeed is a location-based anonymous social media network for students. It will show content from other students in the feed based on location.
Euphoria will be making a VR application to help people with psychological illnesses to overcome their disorders.
Galla is going to be an application to automate investment generation. The application will be bringing convenience to the money raising process. People will be able to generate investments by creating and running committees through this application.
7. DIY Geeks
DIY Geeks is a startup which will be helping hobbyists, geeks, and tech-enthusiasts to develop personal real life solutions and products. An online circuit components shop will be accompanied by concerning DIY tutorials on usage of components which will enable the users to use technology for their personal customization.
Clique is going to be a Smart Switch Board system for the automation of houses. It will be autonomous in controlling lights and temperature controlling appliances. The device will be capable of making smart decisions in real-time.
InstaSafe is basically a mobile application. This startup will let the user lock any application on their mobile phones in real time. The users will have the option to set fingerprint validation, and fake crash screen error to ensure maximum customization at the user’s end.
