Xiaomi has made a name for itself by offering Android smartphone jam packed with top of the line specifications at considerably low prices compared to the competition. The Mi2 was one of the cheapest ‘flagship’ phones you could find in China. Continuing on with the popularity of the Mi2, the Xiaomi Mi3 has been announced today in Berlin.
Xiaomi Mi3 is being claimed to be the fastest smartphone ever. We’ll let the marketing talk slide. But underneath the hood the phone does pack in some serious hardware. You get two choices of SoC depending on network capabilities. The first one is the ever more popular Snapdragon 800 with four Krait 400 CPUs clocked at 2.3GHz and Adreno 330GPU clocked at 550MHz. The second version comes with Nvidia’s Tegra 4, which makes this one of the very first phones to be powered by this SoC. Tegra 4 which comes with 4+1 Cortex A15 setup clocked up to 1.8GHz and 72-core GeForce graphics. Both these versions will include 2GB LPDDR3 RAM.
Xiaomi Mi3 measures just 8.1mm in thickness with a 5-inch 1080p screen. On the back is a 13MP Sony made camera with dual LED flash. There’s also a 2MP camera on the front. Despite the thickness the company has managed to squeeze in a 3050mAh battery.
Xiaomi Mi 3 price is set at 1999 yuan ($327) off contract for the 16GB model and 2499 yuan, or $410 for the 64GB model. The first batch of the phone will be released in mid-October.
